Privacy Policy
The short version
- We collect what you give us to file your claim or run your Cornerstone Pro account, plus basic technical data.
- If you give us your Social Security number, we encrypt it before we store it and use it only to file your claim.
- We don't sell the personal information you give us, and we don't use advertising trackers.
- Cornerstone Pro shows subscribers property-owner information from public government records. If that's you and you want your record removed, email us.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at info@cornerstoneassets.io.
1. Who we are
Cornerstone Asset Recovery is a business name of Modern Media LLC, a California company ("Cornerstone," "we," "us"). We run two services:
- Claim assistance at cornerstoneassets.io: we help people find and recover unclaimed property and surplus funds held by government agencies, for a fee set out in a signed agreement.
- Cornerstone Pro at app.cornerstoneassets.io: a subscription service that gives asset-recovery professionals ("members") lead data drawn from public records, plus tools to work those leads.
This policy explains how we handle personal information on both. We are a private company and are not affiliated with any state controller, county or other government agency.
2. Information we collect
When you file a claim with us
- Identity and contact details: your name, date of birth, email, phone number and mailing address, and whether you're filing as an individual, business, trustee, heir or representative.
- Tax ID: your Social Security number, taxpayer ID or EIN, if you choose to give it. Agencies usually require it to release funds.
- Claim details: the property you're claiming, your relationship to the owner and, for heirs or representatives, details about the owner.
- Your signature: your typed name, initials and the date you signed our agreement.
- Documents you upload: for example a photo ID, proof of address, death certificate, letters testamentary, power of attorney or business records.
When you contact us or search our site
- What you type into our contact form (name, email, phone, subject and message).
- Names, cities and ZIP codes you search. We use them to run the search and don't save them to a profile.
When you use Cornerstone Pro
- Account: your name, email and password. We store passwords only as one-way hashes.
- Billing: payments run through Stripe. We receive your name, email and subscription status, never your full card number.
- Finder profile: the legal name, business name, phone, mailing address and license details you add to send agreements.
- Your work: leads you unlock, pipeline stages, notes, activity logs, fees and claim numbers you enter, and contact details you look up or add for owners.
- Agreements you send: the owner's email, the agreement text and the signature records described below.
- Partners: if you join our partner program, your legal name, phone, mailing address, payout method and signed partner agreement. We ask partners for a W-9 by email.
When someone signs an agreement through Cornerstone Pro
When a property owner signs an agreement a member sent, or a partner signs our partner agreement, we record the signer's name, initials, address, phone, the drawn or typed signature, the date and time, the IP address and browser type, and a fingerprint of the exact text signed. We keep this as evidence of the signature.
Automatically
- Usage events on Cornerstone Pro: page views, video plays and signups on our landing pages, tied to a random visitor ID stored in your browser and to the link or campaign that brought you (for example a partner's referral link).
- Security logs: on Cornerstone Pro we record account actions such as logins, unlocks, exports and agreements sent, with the IP address. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs.
3. Public-record information about property owners
Both services use information that state controllers, county treasurers and other government agencies publish about unclaimed property and surplus funds. That includes an owner's name, last-known mailing address, property address or parcel number, the amount, the holder or source, and claim deadlines. We may add map coordinates calculated from the address.
Cornerstone Pro shows this information to subscribed members so they can help owners recover their money. Before a member unlocks a lead, only the amount, general location, the owner's initials and claim details show. After unlocking, the member sees the full record. Members can also look up phone numbers and emails for an owner using their own account with a third-party lookup service. Those results are stored only for that member and aren't shown to other members.
Owners can always claim their property directly from the government agency at no cost. If you are an owner and you don't want your record shown in Cornerstone Pro, email info@cornerstoneassets.io with your name and the property's state. We'll remove it from Cornerstone Pro. The agency's own public list isn't affected.
4. How we use information
- To find property that may belong to you, prepare and file your claim, follow up with the agency, and collect the fee in your agreement.
- To send you your signed agreement, claim updates and answers to your questions.
- To run Cornerstone Pro: your account, subscription, lead access, pipeline, agreements, training and partner payouts.
- To tell owners about property that may be theirs (see section 6).
- To measure which pages and referral links work, and to improve our services.
- To protect our services, prevent fraud and abuse, keep records and meet legal obligations.
We use your Social Security number or tax ID only to file and support your claim.
5. How we share information
We don't sell the personal information you give us. We share it only as follows:
- Government agencies: the claim information and documents needed to file your claim with the agency holding your property.
- Service providers who handle data for us under contract, only to provide their service:
| Purpose | Providers |
|---|---|
| Website hosting and databases | Railway |
| Claim records and document storage | Google Workspace (Sheets and Drive) |
| Email delivery | Resend, Google (Gmail) |
| Electronic signatures | SignNow |

- Cornerstone Pro members: public-record lead data as described in section 3. When a member sends you an agreement, that member receives the details you enter when you sign.
- Partners: a partner sees the first name, a masked email and the membership status of people who joined through their link, and what they earned. Partners don't see anything else about your account.
- Legal and safety: when the law requires it, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect rights, safety and property.
- Business transfers: if our business is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
- With your permission: anywhere else you ask us to share it.
6. Calls, emails and mail
We may contact property owners by phone, email or postal mail about property that public records show in their name.
- Calls may use AI-assisted voice technology. They may be recorded and transcribed by our phone provider, and we say so at the start of the call. To stop calls, tell the caller "stop calling" or email us.
- Emails: reply "REMOVE" or email us to stop outreach emails. We'll still send messages about a claim or account you have with us.
- Mail: email us to stop mail.
Cornerstone Pro members contact owners on their own behalf, not ours. To stop contact from a member, tell that member directly. If a member won't stop, let us know.
7. Cookies and browser storage
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, analytics tags or ad pixels.

8. How we protect information
We encrypt Social Security and tax ID numbers before storing them and limit who can decrypt them. Our sites use HTTPS. Cornerstone Pro passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and signing links are stored only in hashed form. We limit access to people who need it to do their jobs. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee the security of information sent to us. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
9. How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy:
- Claim records until your claim is finished and our fee is settled, and then as long as needed for tax, legal and dispute purposes.
- Cornerstone Pro accounts while your account is open, and afterward as needed for billing, legal and security records.
- Signature records as long as the agreement could matter legally, since they're evidence of what was signed.
- Public-record lead data while the claim is open with the agency. We retire leads once they're claimed or their deadline passes.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner. See section 10.
10. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy,
- correct information that's wrong,
- delete your information, or close your Cornerstone Pro account,
- remove your public-record entry from Cornerstone Pro, and
- stop calls, emails or mail from us.
Email info@cornerstoneassets.io or call (661) 349-3967. We'll confirm your identity first, usually by matching your email, phone or claim reference. We may keep information we must keep by law, such as tax records, signed agreements, or records needed for an open claim or a dispute.
11. California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you these rights, in addition to those above:
- Know and access: the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, where it comes from, why we use it and who we disclose it to.
- Delete personal information we collected from you, with legal exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of sale or sharing. We don't sell or share (for targeted advertising) the personal information we collect from you, and haven't in the past 12 months.
- Limit use of sensitive information. We use your Social Security number, tax ID and ID documents only to file your claim, which the law allows without an opt-out.
- No discrimination for using these rights.
Categories we collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (name, email, phone, address, IP address); personal records (signature, date of birth); sensitive information (Social Security or tax ID number, government ID documents, account login); commercial information (claims, subscriptions and payments); internet activity (pages and actions on our sites); and professional information (finder licensing details). The sources, purposes and recipients are described in sections 2 to 6.
Information that government agencies lawfully publish is "publicly available information" under California law and isn't covered by these rights. We still honor removal requests from Cornerstone Pro as described in section 3.
To make a request, email or call us using the details below. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your signed permission. We'll respond within 45 days. If you have a complaint, you can also contact the California Privacy Protection Agency at cppa.ca.gov.
12. Children
Our services are for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13 through our sites. A parent or guardian may file a claim on a minor's behalf, and then the guardian provides the information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also notify Cornerstone Pro members by email or in the app before it takes effect.
